Toshiba Satellite 5200

Model PS520C-31P0EP 1600 x 1200 UXGA Multimedia Laptop

Sold with NO RESERVE!

I bought this laptop new a couple of years ago and it has served me well. It was working just fine when I replaced it with a new Dell laptop about a month ago. The Dell seems to be doing the job so it's time to let someone else enjoy the Toshiba.

It was top of the line in multimedia laptops at the time and has an incredible 1600 x 1200 resolution 15" screen driven by an NVIDIA chipset on it - most laptops have only 1024 x 768 resolution. This is the main reason I got this model. It also includes a remote control stored in the side for use as a portible DVD player.

I put in a new 60GB hard drive a short time ago because I needed the space, and also comes with TWO power supplies - one for home, one for work. The battery will run the machine at full operation for about an hour or so. The system remains with the original 512M memory, and has a DVD burner! I will leave the copy of Windows XP Pro that is currently installed on the machine but there will be no apps installed.

It comes with an 802.11b adaptor built-in, but I am also including an 802.11g PCMCIA card, free of charge.

This laptop is well used - it has a lot of scuff marks, wear spots from my wrist and quite a few crumbs and whatnot built up in the nooks and crannies. The top lock broke off about a year ago as well. In all that time and abuse it has never failed me! The screen is still bright and there are no dead pixels. It's just "used".

It has an unusual feature in that you can display images or calendars on the mousepad, like a PDA. I use a mouse so the touchpad is virtually untouched.

It's hard to tell from the flash but you get an idea of the resolution in the above photo. It's excellent for editing photos or watching HDTV videos.

Here are some other photos of the unit:
